Azul Brazilian is a Brazilian domestic airline, which faces various air disturbances during its operations.
European regulation 261/2004 protects travelers in the event of cancellation, delay or denied boarding. It defines the conditions of the compensation for the company which must respect the regulations for all its departures from the European Union.

Cancellation in the European Union

For any last minute cancellation, travelers are entitled to compensation.
The company must inform its travelers for any cancellation at least a fortnight before.
Otherwise, travelers have the right to claim compensation of up to € 600 for flights over 3500km.
However, the airline must offer the choice between reimbursement or re-routing to its passengers and provide assistance based on the waiting time at the airport.
For any last-minute cancellation not caused by an extraordinary circumstance, travelers are eligible for compensation between € 250  and € 600.

A denied boarding? it should be known that the company can accept more bookings compared to the available places, which pushes, in case of non-cancellations, denied boarding.
This situation is similar to last-minute cancellation, which entitles passengers to claim compensation of up to € 600 for flights exceeding 3500km.
For all departures from European Union airports, travelers have the choice between re-routing or reimbursement of the plane ticket and assistance that is based on the waiting time.

Delay in the European Union

A delay at the airport? binding, but travelers are protected for any departure from an airport of the European Union. Assistance is offered with refreshments, meals, accommodation, ... depending on the waiting time of passengers at the airport.
If the company is at fault, the compensation varies according to the distance of the flight: € 250 for the flights of up to 1500km, € 400 for the flights of up to 3500km and € 600 for the flights exceeding 3500km. That said, the company is not liable if the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances.

Missed Connecting Flight

To find out if you are eligible for a missed connection, you must first determine the conditions of this disruption.
The company must be involved, and this is not caused by an extraordinary circumstance. In this case, the company will not be responsible.
Passengers could pay a fee to the second company to exchange the missed flight if the flights are not made by the same company!
Travelers are entitled to assistance and compensation of up to € 600 (depending on flight distance).
